The Martin-Senour Sales Representative is responsible for developing sales in a specific geographic territory. This position will interface directly with NAPA Automotive Stores as well as Distribution centers to drive business and support end users.
The core responsibilities and duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Collect and record reliable customer/territory information and estimate individual customer potential in to the NAPA Sales Planning (NSP) on-line application.
• Conduct competitive product comparisons and identify current competitors’ strengths and weaknesses and determine competitive advantage.
• Make sales calls to prospective and existing NAPA jobbers, NAPA DC, and end users. Through the sales process, identify the customer’s needs and develop solutions in order to profitably grow sales.
• Develop a regular sales call schedule to ensure that the needs and expectation of the customer is met.
• Familiarize self with all products, including their application and preparation, in the Martin-Senour Automotive line.
• Develop sales presentations and promotions to facilitate growth in existing accounts and to open new accounts.
• Assist customer in proper selection and application of product to develop expert relationships.
• Conduct product demos to assist in selling/marketing of automotive refinishing products.
• Access product/technical information to support customers’ application requirements.
• Handle customer complaints within lines of authority and manage process to resolution.
• Assist customer in setup and implementation of mixing systems.
• Support customer with technical, sales, and marketing assistance as needed.
• Assist customer in determining inventory levels.
• Assist in color verification and field color formulations.
• Accompany and assist NAPA sales force in selling/marketing of automotive refinishing products.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. on occasion
- Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via the telephone.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
- May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have at least 2 years in customer service related position
- At least 1 year in sales related role
- Previous record of effective management with regard to expense control, sales management, and directing personnel
- Demonstrated ability to work with word documents and spreadsheets
- Demonstrated high level of both verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic math calculations and financial ratios relative to a P&L
- Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sales experience in coatings or a related field
- Outside sales experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
