Complete payroll related activities, including timekeeping review and maintenance, and pay calculations of non-exempt employees.
Reviews and imports employee time cards into PeopleSoft payroll system from Kronos time keeping system.
Familiar with processing of Union and Non-Union payroll (over 530 Employees for both divisions combined)
Responsible for reconciling and preparing Union Dues and Welfare fund expense payment monthly
Checks for accuracy and necessary approvals
Reviews payroll documentation for accuracy through Kronos and PeopleSoft audit reports and makes any necessary adjustments. Obtains necessary approvals.
Receives, sorts and distributes payroll checks in the local office and for any off-cycle checks that are received.
Communicate with Human Resources to ensure integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers, pay changes and leaves of absences.
Process payroll on a weekly basis.
Researches and resolves questions from managers and employees as it relates to processing of payroll information such as hours, discrepancies, garnishments, and retroactive pay calculations.
Responsible for completing the payroll checklist as intended on a weekly basis to be SOX compliant
Perform assigned accounting and related clerical support functions including data entry and record retention
May perform one or more of the following functions: internal cash collection and processing, special order /drop ship billing processing, processing Credit/Debit memos
Establish and sustain effective communication and coordination between distribution center, Head Office and Shared Service Center personnel in researching, tracking, and resolving payroll, accounting, customer and vendor related issues
Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Accounting or Business a plus.
Related Experience: Must possess minimum of 4 years related payroll processing experience or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Experience using PeopleSoft and Kronos software highly desired, foodservice distribution or similar distribution experience a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Requires in depth knowledge in computerized accounting techniques and of accounting principles. Strong organizational skills required. Must be detail oriented with ability to maintain accurate records. Must be proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel (Vlookups, Pivots and Sum functions) and Outlook.
